Reviewed September 2026.
Solar can support a company’s energy strategy, but installing an array does not by itself prove compliance with a sustainability mandate or establish net-zero emissions.
Define the objective and reporting boundary
Identify which facilities and activities are included, the baseline period, and the reporting requirements your organization uses. Assign responsibility for checking the claims made in public reports.
Measure production and energy use
Review electricity consumption, operating schedules, and the amount of solar production used on site or exported. Energy efficiency and solar generation address different parts of the plan.
Review ownership of environmental attributes
Before making renewable-energy claims, have your reporting adviser review who owns any relevant certificates or environmental attributes and how contracts affect those claims.
Build the financial case separately
There is no guaranteed five- to seven-year payback. Use a site-specific model with installation and operating costs, production assumptions, and verified incentives. Our commercial ROI guide explains the comparison.
Translate the plan into a project
BD can assess the electrical scope, solar installation, and compatible storage or charging needs through our Commercial Energy services.
Request an assessment with BD Electrical & Solar. Tell us about your property, existing equipment, and priorities so we can define the appropriate scope.
