Review the roof or site
Orientation, shading, roof condition, structural requirements, and equipment access influence the design. Coastal exposure and the property’s specific installation conditions also need review.
Use an annual production model
Expect seasonal variation. Compare projected generation with consumption and the utility’s applicable billing arrangement rather than assuming all electricity charges disappear.
Check current incentives

Plan related energy needs
